249. The Chairperson said that, on 26 July 2001, Moldova had become the 142nd Member of the WTO. Moldova had committed itself to apply fully the provisions of the TRIPS Agreement by the date of its accession to the WTO, without recourse to a transitional period. He suggested, in accordance with the procedures for the reviews of national TRIPS implementing legislation which the Council had applied thus far in respect of newly acceded Members, that the Council reserve time for the review of Moldova's legislation at its first meeting in 2002.
