Objective or purpose

Bilateral R&D projects in international technological cooperation with unilateral certification and monitoring are projects conducted by formally constituted consortiums, with the participation of one or more Spanish companies that collaborate effectively in an R&D project with one or more partners, foreigners from the following countries: Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cape Verde, Cambodia, Qatar, Chile, China, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Costa Rica, Republic of Korea, Cuba, UAE, USA, Ecuador, Egypt, Philippines, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Mauritania, Myanmar, Mexico, Oman, Peru, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, Thailand, The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu, Tunisia, Uruguay, Vietnam. Among them Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar and Senegal Countries included in the list of Least Developed Countries of the United Nations Committee for Development Policy

Entity making the incentive available

The Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) is a Public Business Entity, answering to the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, which fosters the technological development and innovation of Spanish companies. It is the entity that channels the funding and support applications for national and international R&D&i projects of Spanish companies. The CDTI thus seeks to contribute to improving the technological level of the Spanish companies by means of implementing the following activities: • Financial and economic-technical assessment of R&D projects implemented by companies. • Managing and fostering Spanish participation in international technological cooperation programmes. • Fostering international business technology transfer and support services for technological innovation. • Supporting the setting up and consolidating technological companies.

Nature of incentive measure

Non-financial incentives: Support to national firms identifying potential partners (advice, contacts, etc.) and support to third countries (advice, contacts, etc.) Financial incentives to national firms: soft loans at fixed interest rate (Euribor at 1 year) of up to 85% of the budget of Spanish participation, amortization up to 15 years with a non-reimbursable tranche of 33% of the credit granted by the CDTI.

EUR 502,550 for a project between a Spanish company and a Senegalese university.

Output or impact

To promote international technological cooperation between Spanish and foreign companies, through projects led by companies with the aim of promoting the competitiveness of Spanish and foreign companies, encouraging, and supporting joint technological projects aimed at the development and/or adaptation of new products, processes, or services for international markets. From July 2021 to July 2022: eleven countries have participated in the INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGIAL COOPERATION PROJECTS WITH CERTIFICATION AND UNILATERAL MONITORING, but only one of them LCD (Senegal): Spain, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Egypt, USA, Indonesia, Morocco, Mexico, Senegal, The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu. This type of project allows Spanish companies to strengthen their technological capabilities, while expanding the impact of their products, processes, and services on global markets.
