The Trade Marks (International Registration) (Amendment) Order 2000
The Order amends the Trade Marks (International Registration) Order 1996 as a consequence of the replacement of the Trade Marks Rules 1994 (SI 1994/2583) by the Trade Marks Rules 2000 (SI 2000/136). Amendments include the registrar may grant a 'cooling-off' period in oppositions concerning an international trade mark (UK), and introduces provisions for the registrar to call case management conferences and pre-hearing reviews in relation to opposition, revocation and invalidation proceedings of a protected international trade mark (UK). Other changes introduced relate to a reduction in time periods in certain actions and in appeals to the appointed person, the use of a witness statement verified by a statement of truth, and provision for the calling and cross-examination of persons in proceedings.
