6. Brief description
The Law is aimed at regulating relations regarding acquisition, exercise and protection of personal non-property and property copyright and (or) related rights, as well as sui generis rights, related to the field of copyright and (or) related rights. Thus the Law establishes: 1) the list of objects of copyright, related rights and works that are not objects of copyright, taking into account the provisions of the EU legislation; 2) registers on certain types of objects of copyright and related rights, in particular, orphan works; 3) subjects of copyright and related rights, including for certain types of objects taking into account the provisions of the EU legislation; 4) term of validity of copyright and related rights; 5) peculiarities of exercising copyright and related rights and their protection. The Law regulates: 1) relations related to the emergence of copyright and related rights; 2) issues related to keeping the register of certain types of works; 3) peculiarities of copyright to works made for hire; 4) peculiarities of regulation of relations between authors of audiovisual works, composite works, derivative works, etc; 5) cases and conditions of free use of objects of copyright and related rights; 6) conditions and peculiarities of use of objects of copyright and related rights and related rights that have acquired the status of "orphans"; 7) conditions of recognition of objects of copyright and related rights as such that passed into the public domain; 8) peculiarities of exercise by authors and their successors of the resale right in respect of original artworks; 9) peculiarities of exercising property rights to objects of copyright and related rights and disposal of rights; 10) forms, procedure and methods of protection of copyright and related rights in case of encroachment on them, their contestation or non-recognition, including with use of the Internet. The Law provides for increased liability for violation of copyright and related rights.
