Tobacco Plain Packaging Act 2011, No. 148, 2011
The effect of the legislation will be that tobacco company branding, logos, colours, symbols and other images that may have the effect of advertising or promoting the use of the tobacco product will not be able to appear on tobacco products or their packaging. Brand and variant names will be permitted to appear in a standard colour, position, font style and size.
Received Royal Assent on 1 December 2011. The Act has a staged commencement. Part of the Act commenced on 1 December 2011, part commenced on 1 October 2012, and the Act will be in force in its entirety on 1 December 2012.
