The Government of Burundi hereby notifies the Council for Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights of the following: 1. Existing legislation does not impede the application of Articles 70.8 and 70.9 of the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights. 2. The existing laws and regulations under Article 63.2 are as follows: (a) Law of 20 August 1964 on patents; (b) Law of 20 August 1964 on industrial designs. Although they are currently under review, copies of these laws are attached hereto. Copies of the new versions will be forwarded to you in due course. 3. The Government of Burundi is in compliance with Articles 3, 4 and 5 of the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights concerning national treatment and the most-favoured-nation clause. 4. The other aspects of the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights have not yet been regulated, and Burundi invokes the provisions of Article 66 of the Agreement to request a waiver of the other provisions for the ten-year period provided for in the Agreement.
