Law 20.254 of 14 April 2008, creating the National Industrial Property Institute
The Institute in question, under the Ministry of the Economy, is the public body responsible for the registration and promotion of industrial property rights (trademarks, patents, utility models, industrial designs, integrated circuits and geographical indications). It replaces the previous registry, operating with a larger budget and with officials specially assigned to the registration of industrial property rights.
