Cantonal Codes of Criminal Law Procedure
Each Canton or half-Canton possesses a code of criminal law procedure which it applies subject to the provisions of the Swiss Code of Criminal Law (Article 365) and the Federal Law on Criminal Law Procedure (Articles 247 ff). The 26 Cantonal Codes of criminal law procedure contain provisions regarding provisional measures. Prosecution is the responsibility of the Cantons. Each Canton or half-Canton has a Code of criminal law procedure (26 codes in all) which is applied, subject to the provisions of the Swiss Code of Criminal Law (Article 365) and the Federal Law on Criminal Law Procedure (Articles 247 ff), to actions pending before its courts.
