Project aims at reducing inequalities between women and men in Côte d’Ivoire and improving the economic and social situation of women through measures enabling them to develop innovative businesses. It will strengthen their entrepreneurship capacities and provide new knowledge which is needed in order to run and develop the business successfully. Thus, it will provide them with the higher income source and will improve their living standard.

The project aims to establish aquaponics systems managed by women's cooperatives. This would contribute to food security as well as development of innovative women-run businesses in the country. Aquaponics is an innovative, resource-saving technology. This system requires a relatively small area of land and little water, making it an attractive activity for women who usually are not landowners. Women will attend training regarding the system itself and management of business. Two pilot aquaponics systems will be implemented. Based on the experience of the first year, the network of aquaponics systems will be expanded in different regions of the country during the second year. Participants will also be introduced to the Lithuanian experience, the situation of women in our country, their role in political and economic life in order to empower women in Côte d'Ivoire to become economically independent and contribute to positive changes in their society.
