Ambassador Eduardo Pérez Motta (Mexico)
B.i.a China
50. The representative of Australia thanked China for the information it had provided during the Council's meeting and for the responses to the questions posed by his delegation. He recognized China's achievements in developing IP law and increasing awareness among Chinese officials and business of the importance of strong IPR protection and enforcement. He also noted the concerns expressed by some delegations about China's implementation of its TRIPS obligations. He welcomed China's willingness to continue its efforts to improve TRIPS implementation and an opportunity to engage with China in these efforts in the WTO, in a regional forum like APEC, and at the bilateral level where they had established an effective dialogue on a number of IP issues.
