The Chairman recalled that the European Communities had informed the Council at its last meeting that it was planning to submit a communication on the issue of enforcement of intellectual property rights and wished to have the issue on the agenda of the present meeting. Furthermore, on 20 May 2005 it had sent a written request to the Secretariat that the item be placed on the agenda of the present meeting. The communication from the European Communities on "Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights" had now been circulated in document IP/C/W/448.
