Ambassador Choi Hyuck (Korea)
O TECHNICAL COOPERATION AND CAPACITY-BUILDING
307. The representative of India thanked the developed countries and inter-governmental organizations who had made available technical assistance to developing countries, in particular the ones that had assisted India and the Asian and Pacific Region through their joint programmes. He also specifically thanked Japan for certain events referred to in its report (IP/C/W/455/Add.2). Noting that the submissions were meant to provide details of technical assistance and capacity building efforts, he drew attention to document IP/C/W/455/Add.1 submitted by Australia. In paragraph 9 of that document, Australia had listed as technical assistance an activity that one of its officials had conducted through meetings in New Delhi that had concerned the protection of GIs. In his view, those meetings had been meant as an advocacy of the Australian position on GIs, and not technical assistance.
