115. The Chairman said that, as he had informed the Council under agenda item L, Viet Nam had recently acceded to the WTO and was not applying any transitional period in the area of TRIPS. The Council had not yet received the required notifications of its legislation. He therefore suggested that the Secretariat contact Viet Nam concerning its notification obligations. Given that after the receipt of the notifications a Member would need some time to prepare questions to be posed to it in the context of its review, and then Viet Nam would need some time to prepare its responses, it appeared that the most appropriate time for the review of TRIPS implementing legislation of Viet Nam would be the Council's first meeting in 2008. If the Council so agreed, he suggested that the issues relating to the arrangement of the review, in particular the deadline for questions and responses be dealt with during the next TRIPS Council meeting.
