Ambassador Karen Tan (Singapore)
J TECHNICAL COOPERATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING
129. The representative of China associated herself with Brazil, India and other Members in attaching importance to technical cooperation under the TRIPS Agreement. She believed that there was a general recognition in the TRIPS Council that there was a gap between developed and developing countries in terms of intellectual property and she believed that technical cooperation should and could be a necessary step in filling these gaps. She also supported the idea by Bangladesh that there should be a link between technical cooperation and transfer of technology so that the least developed country Members could benefit from technical cooperation.
