9. The representative of the United States expressed her appreciation to the delegation of China for its useful suggestion to amend the title of item K. Adding the word "trademark" between "counterfeit" and "goods" would be a constructive way of focusing on the intent of the agenda item. She felt that counterfeiters were not concerned with maintaining a quality standard of the brand owner. She had hoped to focus the discussion on exchange of views on how to protect supply chains against counterfeit trademark goods and to discuss a range of tools that she had found useful. She had also hoped that other governments could share their national experiences and what had been learned from a number of bilateral efforts where countries were working together to achieve that goal.
