The representative of Bangladesh said that he hoped that many development partners would participate in the Symposium to find out how to help LDCs, since very little had been achieved to meet identified needs after the submission of the needs assessments by six LDCs and there had been no encouraging signs for the future. He hoped that the Symposium would be another opportunity to get much needed technical cooperation and capacity building. He also hoped that all Members would sympathetically consider LDCs' wish to get an extension of their transition period.
