The representative of Japan also referred to the informal Secretariat note and expressed support for it, in particular in respect of paragraph 6 which, in his delegation's view, set out good criteria for notifications under Article 4(d). His delegation agreed with the United States that further elaboration was necessary concerning the modalities as to how notifications should specify any provision for which an mfn exemption was sought.
