31. The representatives of the United States, Canada, Norway and Australia expressed a preference for submitting information on their technical cooperation activities as they had done earlier. In their view, it was difficult and artificial to categorize the information on cooperation programmes and, moreover, elements might get lost if information was broken down that had been provided by other government agencies. It was also noted that, given the upcoming review meetings of the Council, the resources available for rearranging such information were limited. The representative of Australia wondered whether the information would be more useful if it were to be organized along the lines suggested, and believed that the way her delegation had submitted its information in terms of programmes, both regional and bilateral, with details on activities carried out under those programmes, was probably more helpful for the users of that information. The representative of Norway reiterated that it would be useful if developing country Members would provide information on their specific needs for assistance in order to help donors to develop appropriate programmes.
