A Adoption of the report (1996) of the Council
2. The representative of Chile said that his delegation was prepared to join the consensus with regard to paragraph 34 as contained in document 5992 with the adjustments mentioned by the Chairman, on the understanding that inputs from delegations with respect to the issue of scope of application of the provisions on geographical indications, the analytical work and the information exchange referred to in that paragraph would be undertaken in the context of the responsibilities assigned to the Council to afford Members the opportunity of consulting on matters relating to the trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights in conformity with the provisions of Article 68 of the TRIPS Agreement.
