33. The representative of the Slovak Republic said that his delegation had already informed the Council in 1996 that a new Slovak copyright law was in preparation. His country had not invoked transitional periods and hoped to be in a position to notify this new law shortly. Due to unforeseen reasons, the legislative process was not finished yet. The bill in question was in the National Council for a second reading and was expected to be enacted soon. He had good hope that his delegation would be ready for a review in the Spring of 1998.
