The representative of India also thanked the delegations of the European Communities, Switzerland and Hungary for their contributions, which he believed fulfilled the criteria that Members had agreed upon in order to initiate consultations on this subject. His delegation was also in the final stage of preparing its own input. He supported the proposal made by the European Communities for a synoptic table based on the replies received in connection with the review of national implementing legislation in the area of geographical indications. Such a table would help his delegation benefit from the information provided by delegations, which presently consisted of raw data.
