60. The representative of the United States informed the Council that his delegation was about to submit an extensive update on technical cooperation that it had been engaged in over the past year. Both the United States government and corporate and association officials had travelled to over thirty developing countries to offer direct bilateral technical assistance on virtually every aspect of intellectual property protection, i.e. from assistance in drafting legislation to assistance in developing enforcement techniques and discussion on the implementation of the two WIPO treaties in the area of copyright concluded in December 1996.
