77. The Chairperson drew the attention of the Council to the work programme agreed by the Council for Trade in Goods on the issue of "Trade Facilitation". As a result of this programme, the TRIPS Council had been asked to consider this issue, with the purpose of addressing those aspects of trade facilitation which the Council for TRIPS regarded as being related to the TRIPS Agreement. The time-frame of the work in the Council for Trade in Goods context on the issue of "Trade Facilitation" allowed the Council for TRIPS until March 1999 to convey the results of its discussions on the matter. Following informal consultations that he had held on this matter, his suggestion was that the Council include the issue of "Trade Facilitation" on the agenda of its next meeting.
