The representative of the European Communities recalled that, at the last meeting, the representative of India had posed a question to his delegation concerning a technical assistance programme on intellectual property rights between the European Communities and India. He had looked into this matter. In January 1998, the European Commission and Indian authorities had agreed on the terms of reference for a programme of cooperation. Unfortunately, due to technical reasons, there had been a delay, but these problems had since been overcome and his delegation expected that implementation would begin shortly.
