Law No. (16) for the year 2004 on the Protection of Geographical Indications
The law defined geographical indications such as names or marks that indicate the origin of the commodity in the province, a region or a particular site if the quality, reputation or other characteristics is essentially attributable to its geographical origin. The law specifies the registration of geographical indications and periods of protection and litigation procedures in the event of a dispute, or contrary to the provisions of this act.
The Ministers, each in his own capacity, shall implement this law, which shall come into effect as of the next day following the publication thereof in the Official Gazette.
