Regulations for the Deposit of Biological Material for Patent Application
To promote our partnerships with other countries with respect to mutual recognition of biological material deposit effects, we amended Article 11 of the "Regulations for the Deposit of Biological Material for Patent Application" based on the "Regulations under Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure" and our existing practices. Article 11 was added to specify that the deposited biological materials shall not be withdrawn; however, this shall not apply where the withdrawal is made prior to the issuance of the certificate of deposit by the Depository.
Patent applications are examined and patents granted under the Patents Act and the Patents Regulations by the Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), an administrative agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
