In accordance with the provisions in the Agreement on Trade-related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, the Government of Jamaica wishes to notify the following: (a) Article 70.8 and 70.9 The existing patent law of Jamaica (Patent Act of 1857) grants product patent protection to pharmaceutical and/or agricultural chemical products. (b) Article 65.2 (transitional arrangements) With regard to notifications under Article 63.2 Jamaica has availed itself of the transitional period allowed under Article 65.2 and is in the process of revising its intellectual property legislation by way of amendments and/or new legislation, where required.
