Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988
The Act restates the law of copyright and makes provision as to the rights of performers. The Act amends the Registered Designs Act 1949 and confers a design right in original designs. Schedule 4 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 restates the Registered Designs Act 1949 as amended. The Act, inter alia, confers a design right in original designs. Section 171(1) of the Act emphasises the precedence of the operation of any rule of equity relating to breaches of trust or confidence. The Act sets up special county courts to deal with patents and design matters.
