The representative of Hong Kong, China, responding to the representative of the European Communities on the duration of protection, said that paragraph C.1 of his delegation's proposal was aimed at keeping the register up to date. If details concerning a geographical indication had not changed, the renewal would be automatic, subject to the payment of the required fees. Furthermore, the proposal did not impose any limitation on the number of renewals.
