Minutes - TRIPS Council Special Session - View details of the intervention/statement

Ambassador C. Trevor Clarke (Barbados)
European Union
B.ii Meeting of 28 October 2009, p.m.
160. The representative of the European Communities said that his delegation considered the mandate to be part of the TRIPS Agreement. If the mandate was fulfilled, then it would not be necessary to go beyond the TRIPS Agreement. If the TRIPS Agreement were to be as it currently was, with an unfulfilled mandate, then his delegation would want to go beyond the current TRIPS Agreement. 161. As regards the Australian delegation's intervention, he said that the other supporters of TN/C/W/52 did not take the floor in order to save time and that there was no change in their positions. Furthermore, should there be any counting, then the European Communities alone would be closer to one quarter of the Membership, compared to the totality of sponsors of the TN/IP/W/10/Rev.2 proposal.
TN/C/W/52; TN/IP/W/10/Rev.2
