The representative of the European Union said, in response to the question of the delegation of Australia on EU law, that Regulation 2081/92 applied not to wines and spirits, but to other food products, unless of course Australia envisaged a register for all food products. He added that Regulation 2081/92 had been repealed in 2006 and replaced by Regulation 510/2006, which still applied only to GI products other than wines and spirits and did not include that provision on a generic register.
