1.1. The Chairman-designate recalled that in a fax dated 18 November 2013 the Chairman of the General Council had informed Members of his consultations on the appointment of a new Chairman of the Special Session of the Council for TRIPS. As a result of his consultations he had proposed that Members appoint him as Chairman ad interim of the Special Session of the Council for TRIPS, it being understood that consultations and a separate decision on a permanent appointment to this position were to take place early in 2014.
1.2. He said that in view of that proposition this meeting had been called at short notice with the sole purpose of formalizing this proposal.
