The representative of Australia asked what would be, under the EC proposal, the obligations of a WTO Member, for example China, which did not want to take part in the voluntary system with regard to a product bearing one of the 8,300 geographical indications notified by the EC. Who should take action? Would it be for the Chinese authorities to take action to prevent the wine being sold or would it be up to the European owner of the geographical indication?
