177. The Secretariat said that the update should be read in conjunction with the original document IP/C/W/128 since it did not contain the information provided in that original note. The update focused on a number of important developments in the international regulatory framework that concerned certain issues that were already discussed in the original document. The update also briefly summarized the relevant work carried out by the WTO since the launch of the Work Programme. It also provided information on work carried out by other intergovernmental organizations, in particular WIPO. WIPO had recently published a comprehensive survey on this issue, as well as other documentation. For the benefit of those delegations that wished to look into WIPO's work in more depth, these documents had been referred to in the update.
