The representative of the Secretariat said that the Secretariat habitually tried to organize the September TRIPS Council meeting back-to-back with the WIPO Assemblies in order to facilitate broader participation in the TRIPS Council of capital-based delegates from intellectual property offices, especially from developing countries, who might attend the Assemblies' meeting. He said that the Secretariat would coordinate with the WIPO Secretariat to double check the dates and also check the dates of the other meetings to see whether they would give rise to any significant clashes.
