The representative of the Secretariat informed the Council that the document in question was also an intellectual property document as documents relating to disputes on intellectual property, in accordance with the practice under the DSU, were also circulated in the IP/D/ -series of documents. Furthermore, the TRIPS Council had always had an item on its agenda under which the Chair informed Members of relevant developments elsewhere in the WTO. Under this item, Chairs had in the past years updated Members on developments relating to disputes concerning the TRIPS Agreement. Usually there had not been any substantive discussion under the item, but it had been treated purely as an information item so that delegates, especially those from intellectual property offices who may not habitually consult other WTO documents, were kept informed of relevant developments elsewhere in the WTO.
