Ambassador Karen Tan (Singapore)
I FOLLOW-UP TO THE SEVENTH ANNUAL REVIEW UNDER PARAGRAPH 2 OF THE DECISION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ARTICLE 66.2 OF THE TRIPS AGREEMENT
75. The Chairperson recalled that, at its last meeting, the Council had taken up its seventh annual review of developed country Members' reports on their implementation of Article 66.2 of the TRIPS Agreement. In concluding that item, she had indicated that she would provide delegations with an opportunity at the present meeting to make further comments on the information submitted for that meeting that they might not yet have been able to study. Since that meeting, the Council had received additional new detailed reports from the European Union and individual member States, namely Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom (available as an advance copy of document IP/C/W/536/Add.7). 76. At that meeting, she had also informed the Council of a second workshop on transfer of technology under Article 66.2 that the Secretariat had organized, at the request of the delegation of Lesotho on behalf of the LDC Group, back to back with the Council's meeting. The representative of Bangladesh had expressed his appreciation of the event and had requested that the Secretariat organize another workshop this year. She said that she trusted that the Secretariat would follow up with the LDC Group concerning that request.
