82. The representative of Barbados said that her delegation was aware of an important role which intellectual property played in social and economic development. She said that small and vulnerable countries like Barbados were particularly exposed to misappropriation of biological resources when dealing with mega companies. She joined other Members in calling for an amendment of the TRIPS Agreement to include a mandatory disclosure requirement in patent applications in order to prevent misappropriation.
