The Chairman recalled that, at its meeting in October 2009, the Council had taken up its seventh annual review of developed country Members' reports on their implementation of Article 66.2 of the TRIPS Agreement. Following up this review at its meeting in March, the Council had had before it an advance copy of new detailed reports from the European Union and individual member States (namely Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom). Since then, that report had been circulated in document IP/C/W/536/Add.7. In concluding that item at that meeting, the Chair had indicated that delegations would be provided an opportunity at the present meeting to make further comments on the information submitted for that meeting that they might not yet have been able to study.
