349. The representative of South Africa supported India's statement. He saw no reason why the CBD Secretariat should not be invited on an ad hoc basis. He felt that the issues which were being discussed in the CBD were directly relevant to issues that were before the Council for TRIPS. To the extent the topics were relevant, the CBD Secretariat should be invited on an ad hoc basis as might be required from time to time.
