Mr. Martin Glass (Hong Kong, China)
K TECHNICAL COOPERATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING
384. The representative of Canada thanked Tanzania and Uganda for their reports and the Secretariat for organizing a constructive meeting the previous day. His delegation was committed to provide assistance, including in relation to trade-related commitments under TRIPS. A multilateral approach was the most effective way to provide such assistance. The Enhanced Integrated Framework was an important mechanism for this purpose. Canada had already dispersed Can$7.68 million towards the EIF and was on track in needs commitment of Can$19.2 million over five years. He encouraged countries to explore these avenues for technical and financial assistance and to ensure that diagnostic trade integration studies reflect LDCs priorities. In this regard, he welcomed Uganda's intervention which noted its efforts to update its DTIS.
