Ambassador Dacio Castillo (Honduras)
10 TENTH ANNUAL REVIEW UNDER PARAGRAPH 2 OF THE DECISION ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ARTICLE 66.2 OF THE TRIPS AGREEMENT
188. The representative of Canada thanked Haiti for its proposal and said that his delegation's report on the implementation of Article 66.2 had been significantly improved this year to address the concerns articulated by LDCs, such as those mentioned at the workshop. Canada had updated its table of examples of technology transfer projects or programmes as suggested by the LDCs in document IP/C/W/561. He noted the fruitful discussions taking place in the context of the yearly workshops on the implementation of Article 66.2. However, his delegation believed that further discussion was required. There were still elements of the proposal that could benefit from clarification, as had been highlighted by some of the questions asked at the workshop. Canada, therefore, did not believe that the time was ripe for Members to agree on a mandatory reporting format at this time. His delegation noted the fruitful discussions taking place in the context of the yearly workshop and believed that the workshop provided a good forum for further discussing this issue.
