Mr. W. Armstrong (New Zealand)
C Notifications under Article 4(d)
16. The representative of Mexico said that her delegation was also looking into the details of the informal Secretariat note, to which the previous speakers had referred and which constituted a good reference document for further deliberations on the matter. Commenting on the paper, she said that her delegation was of the opinion that an important aspect with regard to this type of notifications was that they should not in any way prejudge the discriminatory provisions notified: notification was only required for purposes of transparency. She also agreed with the view expressed that notifications should specify the provisions of the international agreements notified, given the magnitude of the notifications and the fact that some international agreements concerned trade agreements that only partly related to intellectual property.
