The representative of Mexico said that his delegation was in favour of increasing protection of geographical indications, not only for wines but also for spirits, and considered that, even though different provisions of the built-in agenda under the TRIPS Agreement were concerned, both product areas could receive greater protection through a notification and registration system, which in the final analysis would be favourable to consumers.
