The representative of Korea acknowledged receipt of a list of questions from the United States with regard to his country's legislation on trademarks, geographical indications and industrial designs with the request to answer these questions at the present meeting of the Council. His delegation had responded to the United States that Korea's position on this matter had not changed since the Council's July meeting. Neither had a change occurred in the legal status of Korea under the TRIPS Agreement, nor had Korea decided to forgo the longer transitional period under Article 65.2 of the Agreement. Furthermore, he wished to point out that the Council had agreed at the July meeting that the review procedures applied in the review exercise at that meeting would apply also at the present meeting. Korea did not belong to either of the categories of Members required to be reviewed at this time and was not in a position to respond to the questions posed to it at the present meeting.
