The representative of Australia said that her delegation was preparing its submission of information on the protection of geographical indications, in the context of work to be undertaken under Article 23.4. She thanked the delegations that had prepared papers on Article 24.2. Her delegation shared the views expressed by the United States and Canada and believed that it was, in particular, rather early to task the Secretariat with the preparation of a synoptic table. Members first had to consider the shape, the format and the criteria of any such table. Her delegation was interested in the model put forward by the European Communities but recognized that other Members might prefer other models. Her delegation would study carefully the written contributions provided by delegations in preparation of the informal consultations that would begin after the summer break.
