The representative of Hong Kong, China expressed his delegation's interest in the subject of technical assistance, in particular in the last of the areas mentioned by the representative of the European Communities. Having benefitted from generous technical assistance from Members and international organizations in preparing for its implementation of the Agreement, he wished to express his delegation's gratitude for the assistance it had received from the Australian Patent Office, the United Kingdom Patent Office as well as the European Patent Office. He was interested in exploring, in the near future, what scope existed for assistance by industrial and developing economy Members who had already been through the notification and review procedures to those Members who had yet to go through this process, complementary to what was already available from Members of the TRIPS Council and WIPO, specifically in the preparation of the notification of national laws pursuant to Article 63.2 of the TRIPS Agreement and of the subsequent review process.
