LAW OF UKRAINE "ON AMENDMENTS TO CERTAIN LEGISLATIVE ACTS OF UKRAINE ON IMPROVING THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS"

The Law provides new definition of the terms "geographical indication", "appellation of origin"; • specifies the conditions for granting legal protection to geographical indications and the grounds (reasons) of refusing such protection; • determines the conditions for granting legal protection to a homonymous geographical indications; • specify the number of persons who are entitled to register the geographical indication; • reviews the requirements for the application for registration; • improves the procedure for examining applications for geographical indications; • determines the requirements for the specifications to be met by the goods for which the indication is sought; • clarifies the scope of rights and obligations arising from the registration of geographical indications.
