11 TECHNICAL CO-OPERATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING
230. The representative of Bangladesh said that the Swiss Government had undertaken a project to formulate Bangladesh's national IP policy and innovation strategy and policy for the protection of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expression and for capacity building for IP officials. That project was going to be implemented after signature of the MoU. The total cost of the project would be around CHF 1,000,000. He hoped that this project would further enhance the capacity building necessary to establish a viable and suitable IP regime in Bangladesh. Switzerland had always been a trusted partner in development. He also thanked WIPO for undertaking another important project which would also contribute greatly towards development in Bangladesh. In 2008, with support from the European Commission and WIPO, the Government had launched a three-year project to make IP laws TRIPS-compliant through enacting new laws and amending existing ones.
