245. The representative of Haiti, speaking on behalf of the LDC Group, thanked the Government of Sweden for the support provided for the Symposium. He said that only seven LDCs had been in a position to present a paper on their priority needs. This showed that comprehensive assistance could result not just from a demand-driven process but also from a truly interactive process between willing co-operation partners. He expressed his appreciation for the technical co-operation and capacity building received by LDCs under Article 67 and thanked all the partner countries involved. He hoped that this programme could be sustained, enhanced and extended. He also invited developing countries that were in a position to do so and especially the emerging economies to join the process.
